St. John of the Cross

BY

Love opened your door
To renewal
And yet you climbed into prison
Dark and alone
Your vision rejected
Tossed away
Like a meaningless irruption
A naked truth
Seared into staleness
With rustic charm
And purities’ coarse belief
That shoeless renewal
Should rock the earth
Love fills the night
Love remains to give
Action to inspiration.
