St Teresa of Jesus of the Andes Dreams of Mary Magdalene

BY

To be closer to Christ, her bridegroom,
St. Teresa prayed for Magalene’s holy intimacy.
She too knelt before Him to feel His breath
and taste His words. She thought of Magdaline

washing his feet, then drying them
with her penitent red hair. And dreamed of her
pouring that precious nard over His head
while the cloister sweetly intoned the Christus Rex.

When Magdalene prepared Christ’s body for burial,
Teresa wept as well. And when on that Easter
Morning, Christ called out to Magdalene, Teresa felt
Christ awakening the garden of her soul, too.
