Cascading Blood

BY

‘Seek my heart,’ says the Lord

‘The secret place of my love.’

Envelop me then in the blood of your heart

Let my being dwell deep in the pierced wound at its centre

Rich liquid like dessert wine

Sweet to taste

Covers me now

I sink into the sacred bath

Immersed in lofty passion

Purifying my body in heaven’s milk

Dark blood gushes around me

A sacred submersion

Life flows freely around me

To cradle me in suffering and love

Bonding my life to His.

My blood spilled in imitation

Of the King

Welling in union cascades

Blood of His blood

A pungent unity

For you to drink

But where is your cup?

Have you come to the table?

Have your eyes found the door to the feast?

Open and enter that wound

If you dare

If your journey seeks thrills and delights

And your soul piercing desires

Deep in communion

Swallow and unite

Soldier of His crucified victory

For your victory

Drink my friend,

Till you’re drunk on love

Conquer with an eternal body

Look up with consecrated strength

Let heaven seek your blood!

Let earth be renewed.
